"There was a movement for metamorphosis therapy at one point, the idea being that turning into something docile would make your human form more docile or that turning into something vicious would help you 'purge your aggressions.' We now know this to be ridiculous, but it did offer relief of a sort for some of the earliest metamorphs--they could claim to be using a therapeutic ointment to get their un-womanly aggressions out rather than a full-blown werewolf."
